Primary Skills

Project Management

My project management experience is born from synthesizing a diverse knowledge of various development practices, including disciplines ranging from Creative to Quality Assurance.

Client Engagement

Effective projects require strong and trusting bonds with clients. My project manager role requires strong attention towards client engagement to ensure a positive working model is formed and maintained.

Project Strategy

I capitalize on opportunities for project growth and work closely with clients to drive business goals further ahead. Effective project management is cemented in a strong and well planned strategy.

Non-Linear Video Editing

A diverse editing background, including narrative, documentary, short-form commercials, montages, and more. Experience with a wide suite of software.

Audio Editing & Mixing

My degree concentrated in Audio Production reveals a thorough understanding of the composition of sonic environments, the principles and physics of sound, and the careful balance and role of sound married with moving picture.

Directing & Producing

Effective direction and production is born from my diverse understanding of all of the components that make up a project, whether that be film, tv, digital platforms, or mobile applications.

Animation & Composition

Experienced with several styles of graphic animation and composition, working with both organic and manufactured footage to tell compelling stories.

Graphic Design

Design forms a strong bond between the eye and the subject, and my background in storytelling informs my strengths with the graphical image.

Adobe Creative Cloud

My full knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and its offerings enables smooth multi-application workflows that help deliver quality projects in quick timeframes.

Final Cut Pro

Foundational understanding of this industry standard application, permitting easy workflows when working with other editors using the application.

Pro Tools | HD

As the industry standard, it’s hard to imagine a workflow that does not touch Pro Tools. Most of my projects run through Pro Tools, whether for dialogue editing, music mixing, or final track mastering.

Windows & OS X

While this skill is often expected, my knowledge of these operating systems allows for easy troubleshooting and cross-system compatible workflows. Easy ingest and export of work in whichever format is required.

Microsoft Project

While not every project requires it, a thorough understanding of its functionality and the ability to intelligently produce, read, and dissect project plans creating in Project is crucial for my work.

Microsoft Visio

While creating my own documentation as well as interfacing with product managers on my team, an understanding of Visio makes for easy conversations, quick adjustments, and polished deliverables.

Comprehensive Editing

Expert knowledge of non-linear editing workflows using multiple industry-standard applications.

Multi-Application Workflows

No edit takes place within only one piece of software. I’m skilled from footage ingest to final 5.1 output, and all of the steps in between.

Color Correction

When color correction is required, I’ll work with footage to process in-app or in a separate, dedicated color management suite. This includes processing both RAW (R3D) and non-raw clips.

Live Capture

With experience in a wide range of camera equipment, I can assist with shooting your piece as much as I can directing, producing, or editing it. Key equipment highlights include the RED Dragon, Epic, and Sony F-line of cameras.

Film Editing

ADR, SFX, Dialogue – it all needs to come together seamlessly to let the mind drift into the blissful viewing of a film. Chopping, splicing, retiming, EQ, reverb (and quite a lot more) all play their part in creating the sonic landscape of a film.

Film Mixing

That perfect balance between music, dialogue, SFX, Foley, and backgrounds must all come together perfectly to place the listener in the center of the story.

Post-production Recording

Only so much of the sound for a film can be captured on set. The rest occurs in the studio, whether it be ADR, Foley, SFX, or Walla. With a mixing console, some mics, and some good talent, I’ll help you create your soundscape.

Production Sync Recording

Quality on-set recording is an art, from the proper placement of boundary mics to the delicate concealment of body mics. Critical listening ensures that the perfect shot is complemented with perfect audio.

Sound Devices Recorders

Sound Devices recorders are at home on my sets, usually married with timecode sync and multiple input sources.

Tascam Recorders

When quick, affordable, but high quality sound is required, Tascam recorders are my device of choice. Offering reliable quality at a fantastic price point.

Foley Recording

Every footstep, every gentle piece of fabric. They’re the hidden magic in the film, without which you’re left an empty soundscape. Recreating these crucial sounds in post is a must in any modern-day film.

Music Editing

Face it, not everyone has the budget for a fully custom composed film score. When these situations (frequently) arise, it’s important to be skilled in sourcing great tracks and being able to slice and combine until the music fits your exact need.

VPS Management

Fast deployments and high-availability are requirements in today’s internet ecosystem. I manage a suite of secure, thoroughly monitored, virtual private servers to manage 10+ web hosts.

Ubuntu Server

A standalone Ubuntu Server deployment is my OS of choice for my web and application servers. Command-line operation makes for rapid server response and easily configurable hosts.

cPanel / WHM

When a non-command-line solution is needed, cPanel and WHM are known for their powerful interface and feature set. I have deployed and managed cPanel and WHM hosts for clients.

Wordpress CMS

As one of most available and commonly used web platforms, WordPress has cemented itself as a powerful contender in the web market. I work with the core platform to extend functionality through themes and custom coded content.

Joomla CMS

Similar to WordPress, Joomla is a powerful web platform alternative. A knowledge of the core platform and extensible plugins allow for custom sites that deliver to client expectations with ease.

Web Languages

Knowledge and use of HTML, CSS/LESS/SASS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL/SQL.

RED Digital Cinema

Offering a powerful RAW workflow at ultra-high resolutions, allowing for ultimate post production flexibility. Watch Fixation, Shot on RED.

Sony F3

Sony’s cameras, lenses, and sensors are known for their precision and reliability. Watch In Terror Gate, shot on Sony F3.

Carl Zeiss CP.2 Lenses

Highly crisp, compact, and portable. These lenses deliver incredible results at a great size and price. Watch Fixation, shot using Zeiss CP.2 prime lenses.

Canon EOS

Canon’s gear excels for low-budget video capture. I have experience using the 5D and 7D lines for HD video capture.

Park Scholar Award

Awarded – March 2011

Park Scholar Awards cover the entire cost of attendance (tuition, room, and board) at Ithaca College and include stipends for living expenses, books, and a one-time computer purchase of $2,500. Four-year awards are renewable for up to three years (for a total of eight semesters).

The Park Scholar Program offers much more than a scholarship; it creates a dynamic learning community that develops future communications leaders who engage critically, act globally, and perform ethically. Through a mixture of academic and service programming, scholars are challenged to take action and give back to their communities, and to use the power of mass communication to make a positive impact on the world.

Park Scholars are individuals who demonstrate an unparalleled passion for media, dedication to service and desire to better their community through media.

For me, the scholarship has provided more than just a financial relief. The scholarship has given me a family of individuals who share my passions, my motivations and my goals. The Park Scholar Program is a family of like minded individuals who challenge each other day in and day out. There is truly no other program like it in the country.

For more information, visit the Park Scholar website.

Oracle Honor Society

Inducted – November 2012

The Oracle Honor Society is a historic Ithaca College honor society that recognizes academic excellence. First-year students who maintain a GPA that puts them in the top 10% of all students in their school throughout their first full academic year are invited accept membership into the society. During the fall semester, there is a recognition ceremony to honor these students. Oracle members believe that these able first-year students will indeed contribute leadership, loyalty, and service to Ithaca College during their subsequent years here.

The Oracle Honor Society is founded upon the symbol of the star. The five points represent the attributes of excellence for which members of Oracle aspire: Scholarship, Leadership, Loyalty, Service, and Character. The laurel wreath around the star represents the achievements of Oracle members. The wall represents the courage and fortitude shown in order to achieve the ideals of the society, and the light is a beacon for Oracle members in the future. The olive branch is the emblem of peace — the talisman for all Oracle members.

For more information, visit Oracle’s website.

Dean’s List

All semesters (6 awards)

The dean’s list in the Roy H. Park School of Communications is made up of majors in each class who meet all the following criteria during the semester:

  • completion of a minimum of 15 credits, of which at least 12 are graded, not pass/fail or Satisfactory/D/F option
  • no final grades of D, F, or I (incomplete)

The dean’s list status, awarded each semester, is based on a student’s semester GPA rather than the cumulative GPA for all semesters the student has attended Ithaca College.

Distinguished Achievement in Directing

Greenfield Youth Film Festival – May 4, 2011

*actual transcript from the festival:

“A great film director has a clear vision of the film he or she is trying to make, and is able to communicate that vision to the cast and crew.  The director has his or her hand in every aspect of a film’s creation – in many ways, the director is the true author of a film.  I would next like to present the award for Distinguished Achievement in Directing.  The winner of this award will receive a gift certificate to B&H Photo Video in New York.  The judges called the winner in this category “as professionally shot and edited as it gets. Every single element was executed perfectly – this is a seamless work of filmmaking.” The Distinguished Achievement in Directing Award goes to, for the film A Message for Life, Keith Johnson.”
